On the 1.11.2008 at General Assembly in Istanbul, Montenegrin National Theatre has joined to European Theatre Convention as a full member. The European Theatre Convention is a network which was constituted in 1988 to support and promote contemporary playwriting and theatre creation in Europe. Today the ETC is working with a wide range of activities but always with the goal of encouraging contemporary theatre and its mobility. The exchange of ideas and sharing of best practices as well as staff and performance exchanges are examples of how the ETC creates bridges between its member theatres. This is an enriching international experience both on a professional and individual level. Performances that are circulating between the member theatres can apply for support from the ETC, which gives the ETC members a unique possibility to travel or to invite performances from all around Europe. The ETC further offers support and European representation to its members. By its membership in the organisations PEARLE and Culture Action Europe the ETC can offer the members the latest EU information and an important representation in the European Cultural Political sphere. Working with a strong European perspective, the ETC is also lobbying for theatre in general, and representing its members in particular in front of European organizations such as the European Parliament and the European Commission.
